blinded by the light

i have been blinded by the light as bruce springsteen puts it, ohhh yes. over christmas break i finally found direction in my life. it became inevitable that i must go into a creative field, sooooo..... i am pursuing costume design and technology. it's the closest thing to fashion design my school offers and it's generally the same stuff. find a suitable major... check! words cannot express my happiness :)

my mural turned out fantastic, but i still need to add some finishing touches the next time i'm back home. pictures to follow.

in my drawing class, we were assigned the homework of drawing a blind contour self-portrait, also known as draw a self-portrait without looking at the paper. hah! so as you see i've posted my hilarious attempts to recreate my, otherwise, beautiful face haha. attempt numero uno looks like the great albert einstein... coincidence? man, i just think i am so smart and beautiful. somebody slap me.

wow, i really can't believe how great of a mood i am in right now considering i'm running on zero sleep. my current reading is for my favorite class ever, sociology on the 1960s civil rights movement and student protests. this class is a god-send for me. we listen to music of that generation. i walk in on the first day and the lyrics of good ol' bob dylan's "mr. tambourine man" greet me fondly, despite the ridiculously early hour. i LOVE the class. anywho, so we are reading "the things they carried" by tim o'brien. it follows one man's experience with his fellow soldiers in the vietnam war. very sad, yet excellent read.

lyrics of the day:
"many dreams come true and some have silver linings
i live for my dream and a pocketful of gold
mellow is the man who knows what he's been missin'
many, many men can't see the open road"
--"over the hills and far away" led zeppelin
